My husband was diagnosed in December 2013
Currently he is unable to walk and use his hands. Swallowing is being affected but he still talks well. Looking for a to get a cough assist or should I get a EMST 150? My husband is also on hospice and using methadone as his pain medicine. Does anyone else have any better drugs? he cant sleep.

Is the hospice doctor not involved? Seems to me he should be fixing this pretty much instantly.

The EMST and CoughAssist do 2 totally different things. The CA (which may be difficult to get supplied while in hospice) induces productive cough, the 150 "trains" expiratory muscles.

Why doesn't he sleep? What kind of pain? With more details, we would be more helpful as there is no "one drug fits all." Range of motion exercise, massage, heat, etc. may be more useful than drugs.

If his ability to expel well or cough is affected, get a cough assist I think.
