My college roommate flew out here from Michigan to spend time with both of us. We laughed together, did some of the tourist things we never do as residents, and had a wonderful long weekend. She also listened while I talked about my PALS, understood my grief, let me cry, and spent time with my husband just listening to him. When she left I gave her a big hug and told her how much it meant to me that she came all this way to see me. She said she knew I was out here far away without any lifelong friends to lean on. I cried for 2 hours after she left. Now that's a friend.

Awesome! What a blessing.

That was a wonderful gift to you both from her.

There is nothing like a friend you have a long history with in the times of deepest need!

What a wonderful friend. I am blessed with one who will fly out whenever I call. I tell her I don't want to burn her out, but the day will come. It makes life so much easier just knowing someone cares that much.

I'm also blessed with family that come whenever called. We are the luckiest unlucky family I know.

I would not be able to get through this without my friends! 100%

What a blessing indeed.

True friends are truly gold!
So glad that you have them.
