I learned from our ALS clinic that there's a Michigan non-profit that provides electric overhead lift systems for PALS. The woman I spoke with at the agency said have 100 lifts. They bring them to the house, install them in the bedroom (it's freestanding with pillars against/near the walls and can be constructed to fit any size room), and then they come get it again when it's no longer needed. It can be used to move the PALS from any point to any point in the room. I've submitted the application paperwork already since I'm afraid we're going to need it sooner than later.

They only serve Michigan, but if you're in Michigan and want the info, I'll forward it.

Yay! I had the opportunity to use one with a patient who had MS. Wonderful! They had their's from the VA in NY and it was portable so they were able to travel and set it up in their motel.

Wow, I hadn't thought that we might be able to disassemble and assemble it ourselves. I'll have to check that out - thanks, Deb!
