So, after the PEG appointment, the surgeon wanted to wait a bit and see when she needs it. And then put her on the waiting list at that time. Her Neurologist/ALS specialist said she wants my pals to be put on the surgery list ASAP. Do not bump anybody, but put her on the list. Not sure how long waiting lists take for these types of things.

Also found out that she will be getting a BIPAP based on her lung function tests. She is more nervous about the BIPAP than the PEG. Apparently she was told the peg surgery will require her admittance for a few days. No idea what the process is in getting a BIPAP. Gotta say though that type of apparatus on my pals is gonna scare me. I'm just happy that it'll make her breathing a little easier. I need to read up on these things. No idea even what one looks like.

Anyways, kind of a scary day. Very emotional day. It's pouring rain here and my kids are driving me nuts.

Thanks for listening.

OMG.. I'm starting to panic. I can't seem to avoid thinking about her death. I've been so energized so to speak with things to do. Research this, research that. Do some special sewing.. rearrange furniture. work on her diet, etc. Busy, busy, busy...

But with the PEG and BIPAP around the corner, the gruesome death part is overtaking me. Seriously starting to panic. I am bipolar and am quite scared about how all this will affect me. HOLY! I have made an appointment with my shrink to discuss these new feelings. I do see her regularly anyways, just perhaps a bit more regularly is in order. :)

Mandolyn,
sorry you are dealing with al of this, it is so difficult for everyone. I don't know what to say other than you have to try to stay focused on helping your PALS live her life. There will be a time to grieve, but don't waste precious time now worrying about what you have no control over. Praying for peace for you!

Mandolyn, just breathe. You are going to be fine. You're being held...
Love,
Ann

Mandolyn,

The peg surgery is usually day surgery or one night in hospital, I had mine put in Dec. 2010. I will start on bipap the end of this month. It is similar to a c-pap used for sleep apnea. It will help her a lot.

Best wishes and trust you are and she is the Lord's hands.
