Has any PALS experience any inability to pass urine?

My mum just got back from the hospital after an infection, but we realised she is unable to pass urine after she came home and is feeling bloated.

I experienced that last November. Can you (or she) press on her lower abdomen and pee at all? As long as she can do that, (I'm told) she can stay away from an ER or a nurse's visit to the house to catheterize her. Since your mother had an infection, this is particularly important, as it's (again I'm told) considered an emergency. Be sure she is able to pee when pressure is applied. If she can't, please get her to emergency help. This is information my primary care doctor gave me over the phone.

Great advice Ann!

Thanks for the advice, Ann.

She has a lung infection previously and apparently during her stay at the hospital, the nurses didn't clean her properly and she now has UTI.

We brought her to the ER and she now has a catheter and a bag. I am thankful they allow me to bring her home where she is in better hands.
