My mom hasn't had her swallow test yet but her speech and swallowing have been degrading very quickly. The problem i have is even though my mom is going to move in with me in a month and half, right now she lives two hours away... is alone and very very depressed and angry about all this. She doesn't admit to anything and makes light of issues when they come.
She's been adamant about not wanting a PEG.. even though i know the doctors have been pushing it on her. And she just admitted to my uncle that she's coughing a lot now. I'm really worried about pneumonia and the fact if she's coughing a lot.. she's obviously gotten too much liquid in her lungs and it's only a matter of time, right? But all she seems to want to focus on is how she's "going to die" and that the state hasn't sent her Disability yet.
I'm so frustrated! I really don't know how to get over this first hump you guys..
I can't remember her name... but another person on the forums wrote this lovely saying that i've been using as a mantra:
"Support not guidance; love not lectures; a helping hand and not a steering wheel."
But i find this sooo hard. So very hard. I really don't know what to do.
