First tour of duty...
March 2005
I was on the USNS Big Horn. Civilian ran ship to help fuel and suply US Navy ships as well as assist our allies.
So I was new aka green.
About 5 old salts were trying to get my goat and get me to bet i wouldn't be sea sick by morning...
Well i explained sea sick isnt in my dictionary and tbat i wasn't a gambling woman.
I just laughed it all off.
That night we got caught up in a storm which included 25 foot seas.
I was up to midnight watching the sea lift our tanker up and watch it go back down.
I was loving it!
I went to bed around midnight and fell asleep to the rocking motion.
I was fine but the cook (one of the guys that gave me a hard time )
Had his head down on the table in the cpo mess.
I went up to him and said "oh poor baby are you sicky poo?" I had to because we work hard play hard out there.
He said "its not nice to be like that when someone is sea sick" I said quite seriously "of course not where are my manners I should go get you a cracker with butter on it and a glass of milk"
He was turning green!
So I went and got him some dry crackers and water. He said thanks.
Another guy comented "oh that was nice"
I said "yeah but don't let that get around!"
