Yikes Ann! Sounds horrible! Was the male nurse at least good looking? I'm so sorry for your discomfort! So, no catheters for you? Has anyone that you know of had a successful relationship with a catheter?

Hey, how do you send an invitation to tea to someone?

Ann, I'm so sorry to hear about that, why did it take so long to get you fixed up and comfortable? That really stinks... hoping that the meds have kicked in and you're feeling better. Is there a different type of catheter that will work better for you? Experimenting with catheters is not what one wants to do, unlike experimenting with oh, our special brownies.

Marta, I think it would be worse if the male nurse was good looking! Especially when down there... I remember when I was in labor with kid #1 and I was asked if it was ok for the student docs to come in and watch... seriously really? By that time you don't really care who's in the room, you just want that kid out (am I right ladies?).

I just backed my scooter up on my poor dog, who's been scratching all her fur off for the past week (still don't see a flea on her, but put that poison on her back)... think I ran over her foot or tail you should have heard the yelping poor thing. I did say when backing up to watch out, but evidently, she didn't. She's driving me crazy between the thunderstorm, the scratching, the barking and running to the door when I say anything out loud... and the toenails on the hardwood floor because I had to send the 9x12 rug out for cleaning! Because she had puked all over it. Aghhhh! I need some chocolate. Now. Like. Right now.

Marta, don't know how Aly sent invitations. My mother lived with a Foley catheter for a year and a half, cared for by Dad, before her 1st urinary tract infection...[UTI], and while a friend here had blood clots from 2 tries, my nurse who until recently was a ICU nurse, said infection was the only problem she'd known of. However, I had those bad spasms in 11/09, during my mother's death. Dad would call me and I'd have a spasm begin and tell him how long I could talk. Maybe this whole business is the Lord's way of keeping me sane while a parent is losing their fight.

Mark was a military man and kept me covered all but where he had to work. He carried an air of total competence in a calm manner. My catheter was a "small", Helen. I'm to go to a child's if needed again. Mark was with another emergency when Hospice called him.

Helen, get chocolate now!

I suppose a cute male nurse would exacerbate the situation wouldn't he? You're right Helen. Ann, are you going to try another catheter?

What am I right about? Oh, needing chocolate... definitely! I think I'm going to have to find my Nestle morsels and pop a few before I have withdrawals.

Sheesh Ann what a disappointment with the damned catheter. I'm no expert on catheterizing--only had to do a dozen or so in my nursing career. But I did run into one fellow with a really small urethra and that sounds like your situation, but usually the person catheterizing knows by feel that the catheter is too large to proceed. Might be worth it to have a urologist to do the insertion next time or a nurse specialist--if you're willing to try it again. There seem to a lot of incompetent health care professionals these days. Hubby just got home from the hospital day care where he gets his IVIG every three weeks. He sure had a litany of bone headed things that the nurse did to him throughout the day i.e. 3 pokes to get the vein, bubbles in the line, blood all over him and the bed while she tried to clear the line, no one taking his vital signs at all etc. etc. I just shake my head in disbelief. Hugs to you Ann.

PS A funny little incident today. As you know we sold the farm and sunk the money into an upscale townhouse with mostly wealthy snow birds and I'm not fitting in too well. I was walking Tinker this morning and bumped into a neighbor who lives a few doors down. Her name is Martha and she is about 80 and is a retired nurse from Belfast, Ireland. She asked how I was adjusting. I told her it was up and down and sometimes I out and out hate it here. With her broad Irish brogue she responded, "I told my husband that you two were too young to be in here". I started laughing as it sounded like we had checked into the old folks sanatorium <g>.

Ann, I'm so sorry for you. Something seemingly simple can turn out like this. fooey I truly hope tomorrow will be better.
Pus salad need I say eewwww?
Helen, borax powder works like a charm especially for carpets. It's natural too. . Dawn liquid as a shampoo for the animals works well.
Good night to all you sweethearts. Sweet dreams.
Coco goes in for a neuter tomorrow AM. Poor dog. Maybe we can get a 2 for 1 for kim's husband

Di, I am just getting ready to dive into some Moose Tracks ice cream--lots of chocolate, nuts and peanut butter. I'll dish up a bowl for you too. Hum-m-m on second thought maybe Moose Tracks sounds too much like moose poop and might not appeal to you?<g>

Okay Ladies here goes (yes I cheated and took notes):

Marta: I had to laugh at your response, "Has anyone had a successful relationship with a catheter?". Got my funny bone on that one!

Ann: I am so sorry about your catheter problems. Sending extra, extra prayers to you and some gentle hugs. And did I misssomething about your Dad? I know he went to the hospital; is he still in there or did I just misread your post. So just in case, sending prayers to your Dad as well. I also wish they had a sad face button; it's hard to like something when it gets you sad!

Helen: Oh where do I start? I think you had too many brownies at my tea party tonight and what was in that flask you were pouring in your cup of tea?....And as for the dog....Well I called PETA and they will be knocking on your door tomorrow morning.

Laurel: I was offered a senior drink at BKthe other day. I looked at the girl and said, "GEEZ, I'm only 50!". Glad hubby is home safe and sound, away from all the "incompetents"!

And, Susan, I wouldn't want just his "hoodgiewads" cut off. Take it all. We haven't been intimate for 9 yrs. We just can't afford to get divorced. Maybe they could cut his off his real head instead.

And to everyone, goodnight!
