Helen, may your pain be small and your results show healing. If you aren't healed, however, your history sounds very much like my own!

Y'all had more sophisticated pulmonary testing than mine!

Helen, I thought that was the funniest thing when they shoved that up my nose at the Dexi trial. I have different symptoms too . I'm numb in my face, foot and hand. My neuro shrugs and says that isn't a symptom of ALS but your emg failed. He isn't the brightest bulb in the house.
Good morning friends! I went to my chiro yesterday an he worked on my shoulder. Last night was the first night I slept with no pain. I couldn't believe it. So far my chiro is the only one helping me.
Marta, good news on the breathing. You can buy the finger 02 meter at the drugstore. I have one for Bill and Nina for their asthma.
Have a good day all!

Good morning dear friends! Hope this finds everyone well, happy, and enjoying life. I have to admit that sometimes, in the whirwind of ALS, kids, school, etc.. I forget about trying to enjoy life. Not to mention my Giants are stinking up the place! Of course a true fan is with their team through thick and thin. And it is pretty thin right now.

Ok, need to get to work. Just wanted you all to know that you are always in my heart.
Love and light

Good morning friends,

after a few days of rain it is finally sunny again! The temperatures dropped last night and when I woke at 4:30 to go to the bathroom I was so cold that I thought it had to have snowed. Wrong! When the aide came at eight o'clock it was already 87 and the weatherman says it will be a high of 97 today. Yippee... Tim and I are planning on going into Rapid City this afternoon to an air-conditioned theater.

Yesterday he treated me to a manicure and pedicure at my local salon. Today a movie. We are trying to mend fences and with the help of a counselor and his AA group have lots of support. We are both drained from all the outside pressures but have begun to sleep a little better and enjoy each day for what it brings us.

A friend of mine from the church has arranged for dinners to be brought in on Tuesday and Thursday nights so that Tim will not have to cook. She is also arranging for the youth group to take care of my lawn every two weeks in exchange I will make a donation to their trip expenses. They are planning to go to New Orleans this year on a mission trip and are trying to raise money. This will work well for both of us.

And now I am going to try and maneuver my power chair to the bedroom from my office without tearing off doorframes or moving the furniture with my wheelchair. There are times when I think my frustration with driving the chair is not worth the energy that it saves me..... if I live long enough perhaps I will get the hang of it!

Enjoy your tea today and know that I am sending you all hugs filled with smiles and love.

Diane, I'm so glad that you're both working on your relationship, and that you have so much support. Enjoy yourself – and if he acts up again, you can always run his foot over with your wheelchair, and say, "oops, that was an accident, really!"

Back from all the needles at the EMG... not sure what they found or didn't find, but I didn't get a good feeling. Maybe I will if I can get out tonight for a Mai Tai! Not going to happen, I'll be happy to curl up in bed tonight, got up extra early for the first day of school.

Nice to hear that you and Tim, Dianne are on the journey together again, and people have rallied for support. It's just sooo good to know you arecok, despite your driving challenges

Pin cushion Helen, glad you are ok as well. Fingers crossed that the " vibes" were wrong.

Meg, what sport do the Giants play?

Susan, I have read a couple of papers about sensory issues and ALS. It does happen although very very rarely. I don't say so on the dihals forum because it would bring the over anxious out of the woodwork. I remember mentioning it when I first came to the forum. I got pmd by Joel asking for evidence and telling me off for speaking rubbish.. I sent him the the links and he apologized, but i refused to put them " out there" for all to see. Not sure I would even find them now. It would have caused mass hysteria. I will never say it again, now that I realize people get so obsessed with minor symptoms. Will never understand, although I try,

It's dark outside, but the sun will soon be rising. I might find a nice place for a walk or take myself to the movies.

Aly, I bookmarked one of your threads which acknowledged odd symptoms--some of which I have, although as you indicate, it seems dangerous to bring up any of it. The choices are 1) blissful ignorance or 2) already there and are comforted that it's validated.

Hmm...seems like we lost the wind from our sails here! Orange scones and some English Breakfast for me please! I feel pretty good today. Does anyone have any company coming or anything planned for the holiday weekend? We don't but my sis that's 2 years younger and her daughter will be here Wednesday for a few days. We're looking forward to them being here. Now I need to muster the energy to do some cleaning so it doesn't look like we're slobs! Oh well, a little dust didn't hurt anyone did it?
Hope everyone is comfy and happy!
Love you.

How about scones with devon cream and raspberry jam. There is a tea room at the Grand Floridian hotel in Disney. They serve real English high tea in a beautiful setting. We try to go a few times a year.
There is a new hurricane brewing out in the Atlantic. I have my eye on that one. Sept and Oct are bad months for hurricanes
Nothing going on this weekend, It's supposed to rain ( what else is new) My Dad goes back Saturday to return in November for the winter.
Marta, lower the lights and light some candles to hide the dust! I have tumbleweeds as I write. When I start naming them is when I dust.
Have a great Thursday everyone!

I finally broke down and bought a Roomba vacuum cleaner, and the thing works pretty well on all the dust bunnies and dog hair... keeps getting caught on the cords under the couch, so I have to keep it out of there. My dog thinks I bought it for her, she's turned it off a few times by whacking it with her paw! Too bad I can't program it to bark back at her! Susan, I like your idea about naming them, but then I'd forget the names anyway.

Signing on as a very happy Giants fan! They won! I know, only one game. But at least we finished August on a positive note. And I do remember last year - TORTURE!

Aly - the Giants are the San Francisco Giants baseball team.

I could not imagine living in hurricane country. I will take the dry heat anytime. And not many earthquakes in my neck of the woods. The only one I have felt here was the 1989 quake in SF - that was scary.

This morning I splurged for iced coffee from Starbucks - yum! Celebrating the official straightening out of our financial situation. Retirement checks will be coming on time and so will SDI. Such a relief to know that we will not fall behind on any bills.

We also met with a lawyer this week to finally get our trust established. Such mixed emotions with all of that. I would still prefer to be blissfully unaware of our shortened timeline. This and the discussion of setting up funeral/memorial service sent me spinning. UGH. Basically, I told my husband that he needed to write it all down and put it where I can find it. He already has a honey-do list for me for after he passes, might as well include this too.

Ok, off to create a beautiful book display and get these kiddies reading!
Love and light
Meg

Love you Meg!

Helen, our vaccuum is so heavy and cumbersome I dread using it. About every other week Brad runs through the house with it thank goodness. I used to do it once or twice a week. Vaccuuming with a cane is awkward!

Susan, high tea sounds wonderful. What time? Now?
