Jenny, ALS cannot be self diagnosed
I'm more worried that you have a severe anxiety disorder than ALS. Stress can do more damage to a person's body that many realize. Due to your young age and recent events, as well as your symptoms, your Dr. is probably correct to say that you do not fit the symptoms of having ALS. There are other things it can be and with testing, it will likely be found and treatable.
You need to discuss your anxiety with a professional and cope with the panic you seem to be experiencing. Remember that you're pregnant and allowing yourself to freak out like this MAY cause serious harm to the fetus.
I've seen that you're posting like crazy all over the ALS site and this is odd behavior. Nobody is saying that you should go away but you should keep your posts asking for help limited to your own blogs. When you go to someone else's blog, you should treat them with respect. Nobody here is discrediting your fear but as a support group for those that have ALS and the caregivers of those that have it, you do not currently fit.Posted 10-01-2007 at 05:19 PM by califsand

Sweetie, you need to take yourself seriously. Deal with the loss of your baby and address your twitches with listening to your doctor. Remember life is all what you make of it. Find things to be thankful for.... family, friends, a safe place to lie your head, etc. Listen to the advice you get. You are young and have so much blessing ahead of you. Take care, and fight away the things that you don't need.... like fear of the unknown. MPosted 12-13-2007 at 03:32 AM by Marjorie R. Wilcox

Jenny, I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your baby and your ALS diagnosis. I have worked with 4 women who have either been diagnosed with ALS (one being my sister-in-law), or died from it. With all of these women it took years for them to be correctly diagnosed so I can understand your frustration and worry. One of the women had gone to the emergency room so many times due to pain that they wanted to admit her to a psycho-ward because they thought she was making all of her symptoms up to get pain medications. She felt like nobody took her seriously. Which in part, was true. My sister-in-law had the same problem. She called and visited her neurologist so many times he actually told her to go to the emergency room if she wasn't getting satisfaction from him...he NEVER did tell her what her diagnosis was. She had to go to the University of Utah to find out. The bad thing is, sadly, there's no cure. May God bless you and all those who love and care about you. You're in my prayers.Posted 10-12-2009 at 06:31 PM by Vickaleesky
