My 6th grader placed 2nd place in her school science fair in her category. So very proud of her. But at the same time, it takes me back to last year around this time when my mom received the diagnosis that would change all of our lives forever. This time last year, she was hospitalized because she finally admitted to us and herself that "something just wasn't right". I remember us going to Kai's school for the judging and surprisingly discovering she placed 3rd and then racing out...

It's almost spring. It's always been my favorite season. Being in New Orleans, we don't have much of a winter but it still can be a little dreary during the months of December-February. Of course, losing Mama brought a whole other level of the dreariness But just as I've always done, I look to spring as a new start. I'll need that more than ever this year. Hopefully we'll have a few good weeks of cool breezes & fresh air before we are swamped with sticky days & unrelenting sun...

I find that I'm getting along as well as possible while still dealing with my grief. I do find that I'm even more distracted than my normal Adult ADD allows. I can be in the midst of a project, assignment, conversation, etc and I'll just blank stare into space. I just want to sit here like a bump on a log and do nothing all day. But of course I can't do it. Jerri would have my hide if she knew I was just blowing off time like that. So I guess I better wrap up this entry and get some work done....
