Terrifying knowing

It is indeed scary knowing what lies ahead
Years, maybe months, being stuck in a bed
Totally dependent on any one or another
Wishing one of them would myself smother

Unable to walk let alone turn in my bed
Unable to talk let alone move, nod my head
Eyes hearing and brain are all that will work
Riddled with many cramps yet unable to jerk

I pray for my death now coward that I am
