Thank you! I haven't introduced myself yet although I've been reading the forum for a long time and have gained such insight from hearing about how everyone deals with this condition. Two years ago at this time, my husband and I were in the Canadian Rockies and got to see a grizzly bear eventhough we had modified the trip from hiking to fine restaurants and some walking given that he had just been diagnosed with drop foot. I'm so thankful that we didn't know that it was ALS at the time; any reprieve is a good one! Yesterday we stayed inside because it was almost 100 degrees farenheit in Toronto and the heat and humidity make breathing even more difficult than it already is. I can't believe how much things have changed in two years but it never ceases to amaze me how we are able to adapt.

My father, father's father, and father's father father were all born here. We are 200 years plus proud Canadians.
Every year on this day, I raise a beer in cheer to my grandfather who I knew, who bounced me on his knee, and served this great country so I can live free.
Happy Canada Day everyone. Maple syrup, back bacon and poutine all around.
Cheers,
Casey

Happy Canada Day! We live two hours from Montreal and used to visit often. We went Quebec City last fall and had a wonderful time.

Thanks all. I am in Ottawa (the nation's capital) and we live three blocks from Parliament Hill where thousands gather for the annual party. I watched the Snowbirds fly by at noon from our balcony. It's the first time I don't attend, but it's much too hot and crowded for me today. However, we had friends here for lunch and it was lovely - they're off to party some more - and will be back later for our yearly Canada Day BBQ. As for me - I'm going for a nap in the interim. Thanks again for warm wishes - and rest up for your upcoming July 4th!
Elaine

Since hubby was born in Toronto (with most of his relatives from New Brunswick), I LOVED visiting Canada... and I admit I like quebec poutines more than the regular ones my MIL makes! My kids can apply for Canadian citizenship and will automatically receive it as their Dad is Canadian. Wanted the girl to apply to Univ. of Toronto, but alas, she's off to NYC.
