View Full Version : Question about Bipap

My sister has COPD and only has 20% lung capacity left. After her sleep study they have put her on a BIPAP machine that we thought was going to really help her sleep.... however it has done just the opposite.

She sleeps through the night but awakes MORE tired than when she went to sleep.

Have any of you experienced this? I am assuming it is a setting on the machine that Lincare does not have correct. But I really could use some help~

She also gets very dry mouth even with the humidifier set way up and for the first few days was getting headaches. She is on the FULL mask, and it is VERY uncomfortable. Lincare was to bring her a different one yesterday but FAILED to do it.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The headaches are probably from CO2 build up. I'd guess either the settings aren't right or the mask is leaking. If the machine is working properly she should be feeling better, not worse.
