Hi! My name is Brandon Shields, I am 13 years old. Each year since I was 8, I have swam across the Hudson River (3 miles) for ALS. Last year I came in 4th overall!

I never have had a problem collecting the required $350.00 sponsor money before. I usually walk the neighborhood going door to door. This year is a little different for me though. You see, my 9 year old sister had a heart translant in March. My community rallied around us and did a couple of fundraisers to help with the medical expenses. I feel akward asking for money after all they have already done.

I was hoping that you might have friends or family members that would be interested in sponsoring me. (?) I have a webpage that was set up by the swim so that donations can be made that way. Here is the link... Hudson River Race to Fight ALS USMS 3Mile Race, 3Mile Race, 1Mile Swim - Hudson River Swim to Fight ALS - USMS 3Mile Race, 3Mile Race, 1Mile (http://foc.dojiggy.com/pledge/index.cfm?mid=SHIELDSBRANDON)

There is also a video on YouTube that talk about the swim. You can view it by entering in Hudson River Swim in the search field.

Thanks so much, Brandon
