Mom lived 24 years on vent

Just signing up to see if I can ever answer questions for patients or family members. My mom passed away on April 17, 2009...she went on the vent at age 50 and lived to be 73! She got to see all her grandchildren born, but life was tough. None of us expected her to live so long. My father's compassion, patience, and loyalty to her made it all possible (and of course her own inner strength). She lived at home all those years with Dad an a host of nurses.
