There is a story about ALS on the front page of the LA Times today, in "Column One." That's above the fold and everything ... it's about a PALS who won a paralympics gold metal in sailing, and who just died at age 42. Interesting story but sad ...

Hi Beth. Does the article mention whether he is still alive? I thought I'd heard somewhere that a sailor with ALS at the olympics had passed away.

yes, he recently died at age 42. :-(

His crew member is also in a wheelchair, and her young son was fighting brain cancer as they competed. Quite a story. The boy is OK ...
