Great article, You are still on my Hero list. I don't see you moving off of it at this rate. You have achieved so much and should be really proud of yourself. By the way I am ready for a road trip.

Hi Brenda, thanks for sharing this great article with your extended family (us, the forum) I enjoyed it very much. Tell "Puppy" she is quite a young lady for her age, and she is so pretty. Tell her to keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing your picture with us. Nice pic! Was this pic taken before or after Als? Again, thanks a million, and God bless.........oh, ask "Dawg" what happened to his pic!!!!! lol
Irma
Brenda, you're such an inspiration. Also, (I just have to say this) you have one of the kindest faces I've ever seen.

Great photo, Brenda ... You know your kindness comes through with everything you post, and shines from your face. You are a terrific spokesperson for ALS awareness. (And a dynamo ... don't know how you do it all !!! :-))

you guys are the greatest! And I mean that with all my heart.
Actually that lovely (lol) picture of me was taken on our front porch about mid-Sept 08, after I was dx in June 08. Thus I didn't show teeth, the mouth opens crooked!:lol:
I'm really not a hero, I just want as many people to learn more about ALS so that someday, somewhere, soon, someone will find a cure! I feel it coming!
And to lostinlouisville-pick a day, I can drive anywhere!
hugs to all of you,
brenda
Kool article Brenda. Nice to see the pic to put a face to a personality.

Way to go, I am proud of your determination not to let ALS get in your way to succeed. This was wonderful to read, sometimes we get wrapped up in the disease, and forget to move on. As a caregiver I am quilty of this and this has give me another round of energy to care for my husband, and maybe stop feeling sorry for myself.
Way to go and thanks for the inspiration to not let ALS get in the way
Thank you for the link, Brenda and the great photo.

Brenda, Way to go! You are an inspiration to me. I have been recently diagnosed with MND, undetermined as to what actual disease. I have found this forum to be both informative and inspirational. A big applause to all the members for their honesty, compassion, and thoughtfulness. I will be coming here often in the "years" to come. I hope to become friends and grow old with the lot of you. Here, here, to the cure! I go back to Mayo Clinic on the 19th for a battery of tests. We will see. Whatever the outcome, I know i am in good hands with this group. Bless you all for being her.

Great article, great picture!Congratulations on graduating! You have more energy and ambition than most healthy people!Sorry to hear about your brother. Do you have the inherited ALS?Does it help being a nurse or does it hurt with more knowledge?

:oops::oops:
Gosh, ya'll are making me blush! I'll try to hit a few questions right quick-
The paparatzi (or however you spell it ) - I'll be waiting for them. Never know, I might get them in some pretty awkward positions when they take the next picture!8)
I don't know if I have the familial-type ALS or not. My brother died in 2004, so I'm not quite sure how we would find out if he carried the familial gene, I'm going to be tested at my next clinic appt in Feb.
I don't know the answer to being a nurse-don't know how I would feel if I was not a nurse-does that make any sense? I guess I'm just not sure.
It was so cool today-I was out shopping (only because there was a sale, believe me ) and I had 2 people come up to me and asked if they could just hug me, I told them, of course, and then I explained that someone had to have ALS, God just needed me to have it because He knew I'd never shut up talking about it!
Well, they both just laughed and laughed, so it was much easier to talk to them- you know, them laughing, me slurring all over the place!
love all the comments,
I'm proud to have you all as friends,
