I have been an ALS patient for four years now on bipap 24/7 and have started experiencing an awful "metallic" taste and a burning sensation in my nose, lips, mouth, eyes and lungs. Has anyone else with a similar problem found anything that could help?
thanks ellen

It may be coming from the Bipap .You may have a sinus infection. Go see an ENT specialist He may have an answer. I dont think its from the ALS.

I "googled" the metallic taste issue and there are a number of reasons, but the burning sensation in your eyes, throat and tongue might also be a clue. I guess if your doctors are not worried then that is a good thing, but still, it must be very annoying!

Does the bottom of the humidifier have a metal bottom? I have a friend with a CPAP that had the bottom of his start to corrode and little metal particles started floating in the water. Something to check.
