Saturday afternoon I went to my CVS Pharmacy. CVS/ALS Research Fundraiser is from June 8th to June 28th. Me and the Manager Mike, (whom is a friend of my younger brother Neal) made a display table. I did a Bio of Lou Gehrig and had a Black and White picture of him. We put in a black picture frame. The middle of the display is Lou Gehrig. The right hand side is of Tim, his story from the interview and pictures before and with ALS currently. We are doing a raffle for $1.00 per ticket. We will have a drawing on the 14, 21, and 28th. The first two drawings in for an Ice chest full of goodies. Beach towel, Sun block, Gator Ade, Cool Stuff! The last drawing will be for the same along with a Grill and Charcoal. On the 14 and 28th we are doing a Car Wash there from 10-2pm. With five raffle tickets as a Donation, people get the Car Wash, Hot Dogs and what ever we decide to add to it. We are going to try to get WABB a radio station and other Media Outlets to bring awareness to our event.

I am going to take a Picture of the Table tomorrow and try to upload it and
send it to people and post it. I am really proud of it.

That's a great idea Lorie!!!

I was just in the CVS by my Mom's house this morning buying stuff for my Mom and the cashier asked me if I would like to donate a dollar to the ALS Foundation. I had to keep myself from bursting out in tears, but said as a matter of fact I would! I'm sure the cashier had no idea what ALS is and I wanted to chat with her about it, but there was a line behind me. Maybe I should've of grown some cahonas and educated a few people. Instead, I had to run to the car, before tears ran down my face.

I appreciate what CVS is doing, but if no one knows what ALS is, then why would they want to donate?

Once again, you have come up with an innovative way to get the message out! Thanks!

CJ,

We are doing something Amazing at this CVS. Wait until you see what we have done. I will upload the pictures I took this evening of our display. I have to get permission to use the pictures. It is right when you walk in. Not only is there the Lou Gehrig Story I done. There is also Tim's story with pictures before and with ALS at the stage he is at now. I also printed flyers that they can take that tells what ALS is and does. I educated a few customers this evening and they donated. Everybody at my CVS knows me like family. The are already educated to tell people what is is. We have an ALS Video that is constantly playing by our display.

Also, We found out today from their Regional Manager that we can get other Businesses to Donate for our Raffle. Already, I have a Gas Station to give free Gas. Winn Dixie grocery store is going to Donate a Gift Card. Tomorrow I am going to hit Block Buster and drive to every place I think will Contribute something. I have people telling me that they have already heard what we are doing at this CVS, and the Fund Raiser just started yesterday!

You don't have to have monetary means to be an ADVOCATE! I have myself to give. I do pay for all my gas. And of course my time is completely donated.

We washed cars today. We sweated our rears off. (literally) Thank you to Mike the
Manager of my CVS and Ana, Charmane, Greg. Thanks to all the cashiers that are agressively pursuing people to donate for ALS.

My CVS Fundraising goal from June 8th to June 28th is $1500.00. We have already raised $1200.00. We are just beginning. We are going to have Buisnesses donate as well. We gave away our first Raffle prize today. The lady was so happy. She got an Ice Chest with Gator Ade, T-Shirt, Sun Block among many other items in the chest.
I have collected some Gift Cards from some buisnesses. Our big day will be the 28th.

I would like to give a Special Thank You to Stephanie (that is her forum name) a Member of the FORUM that found me on here. She sold 100 tickets for us in two days. She is a wonderful person.

We continue to work on Knocking ALS "Lou Gehrig's Disease out of the Ball Park!

I will post my pictures as soon as my husband uploads them for me.

Thinking of ALL!

Lorie-

Today I ran out to CVS while our home health aid was with my mom. When I got to the counter, the teenager doing checkout said, "Would you like to donate $1 to ALS?" I said, "Of course! My mom has ALS." And the lovely young man said, "Oh, I'm so sorry. My mom is a hospice nurse for people with ALS. That can't be easy for you."

What are the chances that this young man's mom was a hospice nurse for PALS?

Pretty cool.

Excellent Lorie,

I went to my CVS this afternoon and the clerk asked me if I wanted to donate to ALS. I did a double take and said, "Yeah." I then told him I had been diagnosed a year and a half ago, but I may have something else. He asked me what and I told him (MMN). and He said he "would pray for me." I have seen him a million times and never said more than the perfunctory hi and thanks. I am on his prayer list now. What a wonderful world. Take good care, Peg

I have managed to attach one of my CVS/ALS Fundraiser display pictures to my Photo Album. I am having a hard time attaching pictures here.

Yesterday, Mike my CVS Manager told me that were were Eighth in Nation and Third in his region of 23 stores. The other two stores are in a much more populated busier area. Saturday will be the final day of the CVS/ALS Fundraiser. We will have our last Car Wash and Raffle Drawing and events. I am going to take pictures Car Washing.

I will keep trying to attach pictures. Keep Watching!

Why do I have these visions of wet women in T shirts and shorts in my head? Or is it the Toyota commercial with the Sumo wrestlers washing the car. Who said you don't get demented with ALS? Or was that dementia?
