I also get these and it feels really weird when it happens. Sometimes I can take a very small sip of water and it helps. Other times I end up aspirating the water into my lungs.

Anyone have any other ideas?

My mom was prescribed a muscle spasm medication that is specifically for your abdomen and esophagus area. Ask your doctor about it.... She has esophagitis and scar tissue, but would get spasms too.

Just a weak voice, and occasional slurring so far

I have had esophageal spasms for about 20 years. Mimics a heart attack so I have to use nitroglycerin pills. Soft tissue spasm. Hurts like a son of a gun also. I'm clear mine are not ALS related - just really annoying.
