For those with Bulbar issues ,try to blow up a Balloon ,you'll find that all or most of the air goes out your nose . The soft palate doesnt shut the airflow off through the nose . If you pinch your nose shut you can do it I thaught i would share this Geo

You're so right. I can't even blow out a candle unless I pinch my nose. The last time (2 yrs. ago) I re-certified for CPR, I used one of those swimmer's nose clips. Otherwise I couldn't have given the required respirations to the dummy.

All because the soft palate wont close off the air from escaping through the nose . This is what causes the Hypernasal speech also .If i grimis or contort my face i can blow out a candle but not good enough to blow up a balloon. Those buggers are tough LOL Geo
