It may be legitimate but realistically it doesn't mean anything. The drug has never been tested in either the SOD1 mouse model or in ALS patients. Often times companies will apply for orphan drug status because if it is awarded they get an extended patent of 10 years instead of 7 years. Wait until the efficacy on ALS is reported then decide whether or not to pay attention.
