I read in an ALSA article that SOD1 mutations are being used in mice studies to help researchers looking to cure Alzheimers and Parkinsons Disease. The researchers are using the SOD1 because they can see the effects on the mice easily compared to not being able to see the effects on Alzheimers mice. This is great news for ALS because there is a worldwide race to find a cure for Alzheimers. Whoever wins that race will make a fortune. So, in the process of curing Alzheimers, they will cure ALS.
