So, I have a question. I started to feel a strange numb, or tight, sensation in my thigh above my knee in September, then twitching all over my body the end of October. Would I have any atrophy showing now if I had ALS, or does it take longer to show up? Also, I am not weak, but my right leg feels weak. Can this be ALS?

Oh my goodness How did you come up with that from those symptoms. The athropy can start right away or take time there is no science to it .I took 6 year . And some people here are waiting years for Diagnosis. I think you should see you MD and get some test before you think you have ALS. Enjoy the Holiday Pat1

Pat is VERY fortunate that things are moving that slowly. You need to be seen, probably by a neurologist.

I had some tightness in bicep early 2005, twitching started in May, thought it was stress till Dec, then had some weakness and wasting in left hand. Wasn't officialy diagnosed till June 2007.

From wat you said, it still could be several things, ALS is one of those.
