View Full Version : Red lights and spray bottles . . .

I've recently had to buy a new flashlight and I'm really pleased with a small 'Maglite' that has a red filter. I use it when I get up at night to adjust my PALS Bipap mask. You can see well enough with the red filter and yet it's not nearly as disturbing as a bright white light would be. You can also narrow (and intensify) the beam. Most camping/outdoor stores sell Maglites.

The other purchase (from the local pharmacy) is a small plastic bottle with a very fine spray (i.e. like the spray on a perfume bottle) that I've filled with water. My PALS mouth is always dry in the morning despite the humidifier on the Bipap. With this I can safely moisten his tongue and mouth while he is still lying down.

Never thought about a spray bottle as my PALS mouth is also often dry even with the moist bi-pap air.

I've started using a Chap Stick on my lips before bed and it helps.

Thanks for the tips, I will pass this on to my mom for my dad's dry mouth, he is using the bi-pap and the cough assist machine and can really use these type of tips! Thank you so much!
