I have a 35 ALS patient (I am a nurse practitioner) who complains of penile spasms and fasciculations. He can feel the spasms into his lower abdomen. I have been unable to find this symptom in the literature and his ALS specialist does not think it is related. Has anyone had any experience with this symptom?

That is an unusual symptom and one I can't say I've heard of. I believe the only penile discussion we've had here related to muscle wasting.

I am with you Jeff, not that atrophy in the underwear department would have the effect on us girls that it would on the boys but still. Like there isnt enough to deal with... I honestly have to believe Al is kidding around because everything I have read has said that sexual function is not affected - I would certainly count penile atrophy as affecting your sexual function, wouldnt you?

Sounds like this guy needs to see a urologist.

You can still do it just on a smaller scale. LOL. Seriously though a guy here was complaining about atrophy there a year or more ago. Don't think he stayed long though. No pun intended.
