Quick ? MIL still not sleeping and only getting 3-4 hours of sleep a nite, she seems just not able to sleep, some cramps and just can not rest... Also feeding pump, makes her get up quite often to use the restroom.. its only 237 ml in 5 hours.. not much, but she feels its the pump.. i thought i would ask , is this not sleeping thing part of ALS, just not able to get settled enough for sleep and do food pumps disturb your sleep patterns.. thanks again,

Aspen, I'd suggest your MIL gets her CO2 levels checked. My PALS experienced poor sleep & need to get up to urinate frequently but without the usual indicator of headache and without an additional drop in FVC. When examined his CO2 levels were very high. The provision of a Bipap improved sleep++ over several weeks/months. Sometimes the need to get up frequently in the night may possibly be the poor sleep rather than the other way around. Just a thought . . .
