I am new to this forum and have not been diagnosed with ALS, just told it was a possibility.

I am reading a lot about atrophy. Is there a way to measure/monitor atrophy in my arm by myself?

Thank you for the welcome Ann Marie! I cannot express how relieved I am to find people to talk to about this!

I have not had an EMG yet. I am stuck in a doctor referral loop. I don't see the neurologist again for 6 weeks; but I am hoping to have the EMG then. How much does the EMG hurt?

My physical therapist uses a cloth tape measure to measure my atrophy. I am sure this is something you could do at home. Good luck during your waiting game!
