Hello all. This is my first post, as I am new to this forum. Last year, about this time, I started having bouts with weakness in laft arm and leg. It went away, and I have not thought about it again until now. Well, they have returned. I have left shoulder pain, left arm pain, left arm weakness, and my left leg is weak as well. I have twitching in my right arm, above the elbow, on the back side. I have severe fatigue, stiff neck, and have dexterity problems with my left hand. I also have a headache behind my eyes and nose. I am a 43 year old male that is in okay shape. I run 3-4 days per week. I played golf a few weeks ago, and was VERY weak in both arms and got tired very easily. This is disconcerting to say the least. As I read other posts on this forum, it seems as though I have similar symptoms as other people that have been DX with ALS. Can anyone tell me if this is how their symptoms started? Thanks, and I wll pray for everyone on this board that is scared or suffering. Thanks!

Hi Am sorry you are not feeling well. My first thought is you should have a blood test amd MRI and EMG a Neuro is the best place to start. There is so many things it could be. Not just ALS causes these symptoms So before you jump to conclusions See a Professional God Bless Pat

I Would Get An Emg Specialist Affiliated With A Neuromusular Clinic ,many Times Neuros Are Ignorant To Neuromusular Disorders, als Find A Neuro Affiliated With The Muscular Dystophy Association.don't Panic But Avoid Any Unnessecary Obstacles. Gods Speed.

bamabryan...

There are other things it can be. I don't know if PALS get fatigue in all limbs either, prior to obvious atrophy....It would seem that goes against ALS as well as your pain...but the left sided feature is consistent, but not common...It sounds more spinal than ALS...but I would definitely see a neurologist.

for your responses. I have an appt. with a neurologist on Monday. I also have problems talking...formulating sentences. It is a very strange feeling. It is as if my tongue is heavy. Thanks again for your responses.

Bamabryan,

Are you taking any statin drugs, like Lipitor or Zocor? They can cause all the symptoms you have. Alas, the doctors won't help you, but if you stop the statins and the symptoms go away, there's your answer.

Pappy.
