I am scheduled to go to a dentist for teeth extraction. I have a doubt. Is it safe to administer a local anesthetic injection in the gums. ALS is a rare disease and the knowledge is not much here. As my appointment is due in 12 hours, some advice is needed urgently. If someone can ask some doctor and post a reply immediately that will help.

Hi
Local anesthetic for dental extraction is fine for PALS. Let the dentist know of any problems e.g swallowing or keeping your mouth open for ages! Also , if breathing is not easy when lying down , tell the dentist and usually they will keep you sitting up. They usually try to make things as comfortable as possible . Hope it all goes well.

I have had many locals at the dentist I let them leave out the epi in the injection It makes my heart race and without it I am not numb too long. Also keep the sit up so you dont choke on the water and make the dentist aware they understand and make it very comfortable. Good luck.Pat
