Coughing attacks

Does anyone else out there have nasty coughing attacks? My sister gets a little tickle in her throat and then has a "coughing attack" where her nose runs, eyes water, mouth salivates...very scary to watch...she tries to calm herself during these so that she doesn't breathe in some phlegm or something and requires a Kleenix and a drink of water. She tends to get them more when she's tired or if she's been talking a lot without her voice amplifyer.

Does this (or some variation) happen to any of you?
