Hello everyone, my name is Paul and my mother was just diagnosed with ALS, and I am looking for a second opinion from a specialist.
She is in Ottawa; but we are willing to travel.
If this info is already on the website, please point me in the right direction.
Thank you,
Paul

Hi Paul:
Sorry you're dealing with this... and you are in the right spot. Usually a diagnosis of ALS is made from several tests ruling out other neurodegenerative illnesses and often confirmed by a second neurologist so you are probably not out of line. There is an ALS Clinic in Ottawa and you can find it by following the link to the ALS Society of Canada and looking for the ALS Clinics at that site.

This site is set up to support people with ALS and those who are caregivers. It's a good resource if you need it. Good Luck

T.

I did find the clinic and they are a great bunch of people and so are the 2 neurologists who conferred about my mothers diagnosis. I don't question them, I only want to find the best of the best in the field to be sure before moving on. Part of the problem is that I can't get cooperation due to the holidays. I understand this; but don't accept it.
I will keep looking and trying,
Thanks again
Paul
