Newly diagnosed with ALS

Hello everyone, I am newly diagnosed with ALS (2/15/07 - what a valintine gift). I am 34 years old and was wondering about all the orginizations that I need to join for loan closets and money for modifying your home or car and any other benifits to having this awful disease.

I am still going to Mayo for a second look on 3/26/07 (hopefully I won't need this information).

If your diagnosis is confirmed, you should immediately request a referral from the ALS Clinic to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. It is the MDA that gives financial assistance toward things like wheelchair purchases.

www.alsa.org has a part of their site called In your Community. Go there and see if there is a chapter and support group near you. They usually have loan closets etc as well.
