Hi,

Yesterday my brother had a muscle spasm that seemed to affect his entire body. He was in a lot of pain. Afterwards he was chilled and tired.

Have any of you experienced that kind of spams before? What have you done to alleviate the pain?

Apparently this has happened to him once before at the beginning...

:?:

thanks

Gisèle

Hi Giselle. I haven't heard of a full body muscle spasm from anybody. Usually it is just a group of muscles like calf and foot or hand and arm. With the whole body involved and the chills afterwards and the tiredness I would be inclined to call his Neurologist. If it has happened before more than the ALS might be going on. Not trying to scare you but there could be a few different reasons for what you are describing.

Hi Again Gisele:

I should have responded to this in the other thread and saved space! My wife used to get some complete body spasms. Usually just one at a time that would last for about 10 seconds... but there was no after affects such as pain or fatigue.

I think the standard drug prescribed for spasms is baclofen. Probably quite a few PALS are using it now.
