I have a friend with ALS whose family is curious about any programs that help defray the cost of in-home care. I've spoken to ALSA, Medicare and a home health care agency, and no one is aware of any needs-blind programs. Anyone have any help? (The insurance covers medically prescribed visits but not home assistance.)
Thank you for any and all suggestions!

I think it depends upon the state, province or country in which you live. Here in Massachusetts there are not grants but people with certain disabilities can get in-home help on a low-cost or no-cost basis. I would think the ALS society chapter near you would have more information.

Hi there, It would help to know where you live. In N.J. the ALS Assoc. helps with homecare, equipment, allowance for housekeeper,etc....doesn't matter what your income is.. There is also the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. they help ALS Pals. My Best to you, Beebe

We're in California. I had spoken to ALSA and had put my friends in touch with them. I hadn't thought of MDA, though.
I appreciate the help!
