Hi
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced double vision as the disease progressed? My dad was just diagnosed in Feb/06 and his progression is quite advanced, he has recently has had bouts of double vision.

one thing to check would be whether it is a side effect of any meds he is taking. I know that a few of the common drugs PALS take can cause blurred vision, if not double....(scopalamine and amitripyline for starters). Something to check anyway.
Good Luck, Beth

Paula,

Was your father diagnosed at an ALS center? The reason I ask is that double vision is not a typical symptom of ALS--in fact the eye muscles are usually among the very last to go. However, myasthenia gravis (google it) is a neuromuscular disease that has double vision as one of its major symptoms along with other muscular weakness, and it is treatable. Has your dad's diagnosis been confirmed by a reliable second opinion?
