I am going to attempt to post this link for this music. I hope that it will lift your soul as it does mine!

Enjoy this beautiful song sung in both English and Italian by musical superstars Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. The inspiring lyrics set to breathtaking photography creates powerfully uplifting media. ...

I really appreciate how talented Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli are and while I would don't listen to this music, I know lots of people who love it. In fact one of my very good friends is nuts over Celine and he got to meet her last year which made him super happy. Anyway, thank you for sharing this with us. I think it is so nice that you wanted to share something that inspires you and makes you feel better. That is very generous!

My parents actually live right across the street from where Celine and her family lived when she was a little girl.

Big hugs to you, indigosd!

Oh tussen tak Rosella! I do not feel so ignored anymore! I love all kinds of music-very eclectic tastes. I loathe heavy metal and refused to ever allow it played in my home when the older kids were teenagers-made me feel ANGRY and homicidal! Definately not good for them lol

Well, you know what they say about heavy metal causing disease. I don't allow it played in my home, either.

Oh I definitely agree. I do not like heavy metal either but I love all sorts of music too from pop music, electronic or alternative rock to classical and latin music and everything in between. I think the best therapy in the world is going for walks with my iPod and my pooch. That's just the best!

I am assuming that "tussen tak" means thank you?

Hey I don't have any flying monkeys... where can I get some?

Ahhh HEAVY METAL , it calms the savage mind.

My parents thought I was warped at a young age and tried to keep me from "that disturbing music". At ten yrs old , I told them not to listen to it if you don't like it , but I enjoy it. I slept to it often .

Not crazy about heavy metal either. Saying that you all should know that my husband was and my son is in a heavy metal band. Can you imagine how well I survived the practises? I love all kind of music. The heavy metal lovers, not so much tolerance for other kinds.

Personally, I love all music except polka and C&W (sorry, not living up to my cowboy rep here) but my first passion is rock and roll. Everything from Aerosmith to Zeppelin, Boston to Yes, Clapton to The Who. Like Glen, there is nothing like going to sleep with some good music (Pink Floyd). When my older sister was a teenager my dad made her return an Elvis Presley record that she bought but ten years later he had to put up with the sound of Jimi Hendrix and Santana blasting out of my room.

Anyone seen School of Rock with Jack Black? A cute movie with some good music.

You just have to watch "The Big Joe Polka Show" on RFDTV if you have satellite or cable. I'm a top 40's lover of music from the 40's thru 70's. Swing, dixieland, country, rock & roll. One of my favorite groups from the 60's & 70's is Blood Sweat & Tears. I like the sound of David Clayton Thomas' voice.

Kay Marie, I want to thank you for the links to those two TOTALLY different videos. Beyonce, what can I say? The song is ok, the dancing is :shock:. If you learn that dance you HAVE to make a video and post it. I watched all of it (several times), the polka one, not so much. Bad memories of too many company Christmas parties and weddings, being dragged out to do the chicken dance, YIKES!

Barry, isn't that incredible!!! When I do learn all of those moves and can do it that fast I will post it because that would be a huge accomplishment!! I saw Elton John in concert in 1972 in Southern California and again in 1986 in upstate New York. Over the top fabulous. Anyone else remember James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Carly Simons...those were the days for sure. Our family actually went to the Skillet concert a few weeks ago. As luck would have it, we had front row center seats! Man those guys put on a great concert.... and as John Cooper would say it... we rocked our faces off.

And FYI, the NFL has even picked up a couple of their songs for the background music when doing some of the short video highlights during the games.

I love all kinds of music! In one of our threads someone made a comment about possibly doing meditation. The music by Deva Premal and Miten makes my heart resonate! These are the words that they are chanting. Such a wonderful way to greet the sunrise and to celebrate the wonder of the moment.

Traditional

TWAHMEVA MATA CHA PEETAH TWAHMEVA
TWAHMEVA BANDHU CHA SAKAH TWAHMEVA
TWAHMEVA VIDHYA DRAVEENAM TWAHMEVA
TWAHMEVA SARVAM MAMA DEVA DEVA

This traditional chant is sung during "arti" (closing hymn)
as a vow of devotion to God in all. The text translates as:
Thou art my Mother, My Father thou art,
Thou art my relatives, and my only Friend,
Thou art my Wisdom, My Wealth thou art,
Thou art my Lord, my own true Love

Here is the link;

Thanks Kay Marie! That was awesome. I love that movie. I've seen it a million times and it just never gets old.
Don't you love that Toto. I have a Toto but his name is Chico and he follows me everywhere.

Trivia: In the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, Toto was played by a female black Cairn Terrier whose real name was Terry. Terry was paid a $125.00 salary each week, which was far more than many of the human actors (the Singer Midgets who played the Munchkins only received $50.00 a week). During production Terry's foot was broken when one of the witch's guards stepped on her. A second dog had to be used while her foot healed. Because of the popularity of the movie, and because that role was the one she was most remembered for, Terry's owner changed her official name to Toto. She actually appeared in 13 different films. She died at age 10.

Kay Marie--thanks for starting this thread. I really liked the meloncholy flute, but all have been inspiring. Upon retirement, the dir of music at our h.s. gave me a CD of one of my favorite Symphonies. Here is a short youtube of Dvorak's Symphony #9 (From the New World) 2nd movement. It is not the best example, but others are available. Dvorak studied the songs of Native Americans and Negro Spirituals before he wrote this in 1880s. Later, a song called "Going Home" was written to the same tune. Many find it sad, but I think it is too deep for sadness.

This has nothing to do with inspirational songs but I got an IPod touch for Christmas and am sitting here in my recliner listening to the greatest hits of The Who. They say that you can best relate to the music that you first heard when you were growing up and as I was a teenager in the late 60s and early 70s I can really relate to The Who. Brings back so many memories to hear the electronic notes of "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Who Are You" (I hate you CSI).

Anyway, my new IPod is supposed to be another talker for me and it is but a word of warning, if you have any EL issues, don't listen to music that you love while wrapped up in a music cocoon! You are probably saying to yourself right now "What, he is just discovering MP3s now?
I know, welcome to the 21st century Barry! :-P:-P

Merry Christmas friends!

Are you all talking about the iPod Touch? I have an iPhone which is basically the same thing except with the added phone feature. I use if for so many things including the flashlight app :) I also play Scrabble and crosswords on it, I Facebook with it, I take pictures, I email, and I use the "notes" to make lists and of course I use it as an iPod.
