We are going to get an eyegaze in the next month, and am going to try to get my hubby to use model talker to bank his voice, and any tips or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lori
Lori,
Here is the link to the thread I started last March. It includes a lot of information on the Model Talker.

The headset microphone is a must, Your husband knowing up front it can be tedious and some sounds/words he attempts are going to keep getting rejected by the program (it happens to everyone) will perhaps help stave off frustration. I found that if I couldn't get a particular recording to take, after a couple of tries, I'd just go back to it later.
Earlier in the morning and/or when most rested is best time to work on making the recordings.
At the time I did this, I was still living in the city, so I did take steps to soundproof the room I did it in, mainly just draped as much sound absorbent material around the room as I could. ... quilts, blankets on walls and over windows. Bedrooms seem to be a natural "sound studio" because the bed helps soak up ambient noise, also carpeting helps.

Hey Lori,
Yes , its all about the headset and the microphone. I advise that a good quality gamers headset would be the best.
The next thing to remember is to voice bank in the morning while you are still rested.
Do not expect to do it all in one shot. It will take many sessions to complete.
The first stage is a quick 50 phrases or so. This is to evaluate whether you are capable of continuing onto the second stage of 1600+ phrases. Some of the phrases are really goofy.
I will happy to answer any questions you may have. Here on the forum , private messages , or even MSN Live Messenger for a chat.

The latest version of MSN Live Messenger has a live call feature that works just like the telephone , without those annoying minutes.
I will answer any questions about model talker that I can.

I find Skype to be a superior product.
