It is taking more effort for me to get up and let the cat & dog out, then in again, then out.... then in.....

We'd discussed putting in one of those flap pet doors, but I was concerned about other animals coming in the house through it. Someone just told me there are "radio" controlled collar tags the pet can wear that operate the door only for them, not the friendly neighborhood squirrels!

They allow a collar tag wearing pet to enter the house, and are a deterrent to animals outside that try to push in the flap. They do not provide a deterrent to animals leaving the house, meaning the locking feature works in only one-direction. Then, there are two way activation doors which control access in BOTH directions. So, if you've got one pet who is allowed out, but others aren't, then just the one animal can let itself in and out.

Maybe this is common knowledge, but I sure didn't know, and thought it worthy to mention here.

The have the same thing for humans - its called a key lock.

Going out the door , you can use the key to lock the door.

Coming home after a workout of doing 10oz curls , the lock keeps moving and the key does not fit. Muttering obscenities seems to have no effect on the lock either.
