Any systems engineers in the house?

I've been slowly developing the idea of a computer-assisted generation of the Big Picture ALS mindmap to assist in recognizing all the potential points where one could intervene. One part of the project is generation of the ontology which I have just started (see here ). Another would be selection of the proper analysis tool (assuming it won't have to be coded by myself). The third point is to plan how actually the result data should be used to improve the mindmap.

I am an engineering physicist far away from my home field (nuclear engineering) so I would be more than happy to hear any feedback from those more familiar with the practical applications of data mining.
