I've never heard of this but it sounds pretty interesting:

Interesting....
I know that with stem cell research that the trials that I was invited to consider include surgery to remove a part of the cervical vertebrae to allow the researchers to see where they are placing the injection. Anti-rejection drugs are then required for the rest of a subject's life.

This may be a simpler treatment, dunno. No; I have not heard of it being performed within the US.

Very interesting, I had never heard of that before either. But if it's just now being tested in animals, I'm sure it'll be a number of years before it gets to the clinical testing stage.
