Default mercury/quicksilver-poisoning???

dear all
i am not dx with a mnd but with a benign fasciculation syndrom (although i always doubt if it could be als). i have eight mercury-fillings in my mouth, all of which seem to be older, cannot remember when my dentist put them anymore, but certainly more than 10 years.
i have found documents that suggest a correlation between mercury-poisoning and als (and maybe also bfs). can anyone relate to this? maybe wright?
do you all have mercury fillings in your teeth? did you think about removing them?

Best wishes from Switzerland

I have removed the links for now. I will review them for relevance. There has been much debate concerning mercury fillings and there is no correlation to ALS.

There's more mercury in tuna fish. Use the search feature. We've been down this road before.

Default amalgam

yes i did search on this site for amalgam/mercury dental fillings but it seems that the discussions didn't come to a conclusion. i strongly believe there is a correlation between lead/mercury and als. i would appreciate to know if anyone has ever asked the mnd-specialist about this possibility and if everyone with als has mercury fillings or not...!?

I spoke with my dentist about this , he explained that as the amalgam(sp?) cures , it no longer is able to bother you - like cement.

Of course, this is the same dentist that quickly agreed to remove all of those filings I had and replace them . I am glad that my insurance picked up the $2600 tab.

I think its one of those peace-of-mind expenditures. Will it make a difference - who knows.

Glen

My dentist said no way to taking mine out. Said the risk of drilling them out without a lot of precautions would put more mercury into you than would ever leach into you. He doesn't feel there is enough evidence for removal. He said he'd send me to another guy if I insisted on removal. I didn't think it was worth the money or risk.

Yes I asked mine about it and he said it was a waste of time and money. He is also doing research on the cause of ALS and is leaning toward genetic predisposition and environmental toxins. I trust his opinion.

There are 100 million people with mercury fillings in the world as an arbitrary figure. !00 thousand with ALS. A guesstimate. There is more mercury in a can of salmon according to a recent study. No one has found a DEFINITE relationship between fillings and ALS. If you are so paranoid about it, have them removed. You might feel better. You might want to stop drinking tap water too, it has chemicals in it too. Better lay off meats and vegetables and packaged foods too, they all have chemicals in them. A bit drastic I admit but where do you start and stop trying to eliminate chemicals.
