Laura, I just read Vivien's obituary in the Edmonton Journal and I wanted to say again how sorry I am about her passing. I also wanted to say that my wife, Beth MacCallum, knows her daughter Susan and Susan's husband Basil so please pass along our condolences to them and to the rest of the family.

Her service is on Wednesday and I am having a terrible time finding a poem or quote that "fits" her battle with this disease, and about letting go. I am making a picture frame of her "life" with a whole bunch of pictures, and thought I would include a poem.
Does anyone have one that suits this-I have searched the internet, and haven't found anything I like or that fits so far.
Laura

Laura, I am so sorry but I am grateful that she passed so easily. Do you like this:
She whom we love and lose
is no longer where she was before.
She is now wherever we are.
-St. John Chrsostum
I also love this song by Josh Groban. We played this at my Momma's funeral. It shocked our Lutheran ministers! lol
"To Where You Are"
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory, so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away not far
To where you are
I know you're there
A breath away not far
To where you are

Laura,
One of my best friend's mom read this poem at her husband's funeral and it touched me. It's a poem by Saint Augustine and I think it is quite beautiful....
Love Never Disappears
Love never disappears for death is a non-event.
I have merely retired to the room next door.
You and I are the same; what we were for each other, we still are.
Speak to me as you always have, do not use a different tone, do not be sad.
Continue to laugh at what made us laugh.
Smile and think of me.
Life means what it has always meant.
The link is not severed.
Why should I be out of your soul if I am out of your sight?
I will wait for you; I am not here, but just on the other side of this path.
You see, all is well.
