Question just to see if anyone knows. My wife (Dx 5-2009) is very near the end i believe. Sometimes watching her, often while i am holding her cigarette for her, she will exhale, and her head will drop a little more than it already is. Her eyes and mouth are open, and she doesn't respond to talking to her, or putting a smoke to her lips. It is like someone turned off a switch. I have thought that she was gone several times. This lasts for 30-50 seconds, then she takes a deep breath and continues on like nothing happened. Is this normal ? She has been in and out of a catatonic state for a few weeks now. I know time is short, just wondering if anyone else has seen this.
Thanks
Biskethed

All we can do is agree with you. We got a "dammit doll". You hold it by the head a wack the stuffings out of it whenever you need to, while saying whatever cuss words you need to. (We were told when given the doll that these cuss words won't count against you.)

So sorry for what you have to go through and hope that you have Hospice by now. God bless.

I wish I had words of wisdom, but sadly, I don't. I can only say that I'm thinking of you and your family and wishing you strength.

My dad was diagnosed 5 short months ago and in that time, has lost most use of all four limbs, can no longer swallow anything, has a bipap (although has rejected it), and picks up a speech device this week. I feel your grief. There are no words to describe the pain.

You and your wife and children are in my thoughts and prayers, I wish there was more I could offer.
