Default Life isn't fair...

Rules…

Rule Number 1. Life isn’t fair.

Rule number 2. No one can change Rule Number One.

Rule number 3. Improvise, adapt and accept. (The best you can).

What brought this to my mind was I watched a Rolling Stones
concert… “The Stones… Over Havana Moon.

These guys now are all in their 70s. They have abused alcohol,
abused drugs, taken advantage of women, trashed hotel rooms,
abused hotel staff, smoked cigarettes, (one still does0 smoked pot,
(some still do), been so drunk and stoned to where they missed
numerous flight departure times after a concert, got out of drug
charges and have lived life wide open.

Again, these guys now are all in their 70s.

They are all millionaires, Mick Jagger has been Knighted
(Sir Mick), And, Charlie Watts has been awarded one of England’s
Top 10 Best Dressed Men. Recently Charlie was awarded Master
Drummer for Rock and Jazz Drummer. I think Ginger Baker is
better. Something I wanted to pursue… didn’t work out.
Keith Richards is probably the richest of them all. How did that
happen… half the time he wouldn’t know what planet he’s on.

Geeze… and I worry about occasionally having more than one beer.
It scares me to even think about a get together with the guys (a
poke game might break out) and fire up a Cohiba (cigar).

Yea… tell me about Rule Number One.

Yep, I agree, Al. We all know Rule #1 quite well.

On the other hand, the Stones worked hard from a very young age to develop their talents and they bravely stepped onto a brightly lit stage--literally--when most of us were too scared to ask a girl out for a date. They've been public people, with all the crap that entails, and kept on keeping on, sweating up on stages around the world--probably when they wanted to just go home to sit with their families. To make a single song on a CD, it must be hundreds of hours of work, some creative, and some tedious.

So they deserve every good thing they get.

We still don't deserve "this."

A little Stones trivia…

When the Stones fired Brian Jones because of his drug addiction
they asked, more than once, for a certain someone to join the band
but.. he turned them down. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin… imagine.

Charlie Watts has always been the rock of the group.

One night at 3 AM Mick Jagger was drunk at a party and called
Charlie Watts room and yelled, “Where is my drummer?”

Charlie got dressed in a suit and tie went down to Jagger’s room,
called him out in the hall… punched Jagger, grabbed him by the
shoulders, got in his face and said, “You’re my singer." Charlie
went back to his room and went back to sleep.

PS. Charlie Watts has been married to his wife for 54 years.

when thinking about why some people get "good" things and others "bad" my thoughts are taken to Psalm 73 where in God promises good for those that are His, and is setting those who are not on slippery ground where they will fall in their pride. This will be realized in eternity.

A lot of folks of that generation may not be Stones fans. I've shown favorite for
drummers. So here's another group, short term longevity compared to the Stones
but had one of the best drummers of all times and even today.

Creme's drummer Ginger Baker. One of the best accompany drum riff to a tune...
"White Room". Ginger was the backbone to that tune.

Any Creme fans out there? Or... other groups of that generation? Credence?

Cream: Best drummer and best vocal/lead guitar (Clapton.)

Kim, thank you so much. I have lost so many of my Computer skills, like posting a
You Tube video. I takes me so much longer to compose a reply or post. I screw up the
spelling of words so bad Spell Correct can't figure them out.

Again, thanks.

PS. I was in the service then but even we heard about Woodstock being put
together before it happened. Wish you could have gone.

PS PS. In White Room Ginger broke a lot of drum rudiments.

I was late to the scene but I love Cream and the Exile on Main St. era Stones.
Read Keith Richards autobiography which is great fun. What he wrote about the drugs made sense. They never used street stuff only the finest flaky cocaine right from the Merck pharmaceutical plant and medicinal grade heroin.
So quite a few PALS here are rock'n'roll, too, with the good morphine drops, medicinal grass and the old records spinning.

Kim, and to all... this will be last I post about Ginger Baker.

He was the first to go with dual Floor Toms (foot pedal) eliminating the snap and
sizzle of the pedal Hi Hat. He also minimized the use of cymbals giving drums too
much trash sound. (Ooops... earlier I misspelled cymbals.)

Ok, no more.
