CPAP is a constant pressure. The same pressure whether breathing in or out. Eventually , breathing out against CPAP gets to be work for someone with
ALS . Having to work while sleeping takes energy.
BiPap is a combination of pressures. Higher pressure to breath in - helping you breathe , and a drop to a much lower pressure to make it easy for you to exhale. This is much better for someone with
ALS.
I can attest to this as I have had both. BiPap Rules !
