My husband was diagnosed in June 09. I cann't believe how much als can take away,so fast. He has gone from a man who golfed 18 to 36 holes a day last April. To a brace on his right leg in August ,bi-pap in early November it has been a godsent,a spell & speak in Jan. a peg tube last week , not yet in use. We have a headmaster brace on order should be here next week and a walker is coming today . Things just seem to be going so fast. We are retired Ken just turned 62 on Jan.31. Thanks to everyone here,I have gotten a lot of helpfull hints from this site. He is having a lot of trouble right now with a lot of saliva in the day time, says he feels like he is drowning.Any suggestions on this.

Hi there. Sorry about your husbands diagnosed and fast progression. Some of the people here use a drug called Elavil or Amitriptiline. It was used as an anti depressant and a side effect is dry mouth. If you use the search feature and type in Amitriptiline you may find other things to try.

AL.
