Thank you god bless you and your kindness means a lot to me. I will continue to pray for all those who are suffering

So lately I have notice that the back of my knee makes like a popping sound when I walk like I can feel a ligament moving back there. I get it your sick of me and I'm pretty sick of my self too but u all are pretty knowledgable and it does easy my mind after hearing from you. Something that I've also noticed is with my drop foot it's not because of weakness like I really am trying so hard to pull it up it just feels stuck I'm sorry again I just need to stay away from the internet and my big toe I cannot lift my big toe at all my other toes I can lift up a little bit but not my big toe and that's the one that's really numb

You will have lots to tell your neuro on July 12th. I am not sure what you are expecting from the people here at this time, but we can not tell you you have ALS. While the wait seems like forever, there really is nothing that can be done till you are in a clinic and being observed by a specialist. You are absolutely right that you need to stay away from the internet in the mean time. There is literally nothing the members of this forum can do for you right now.

I look forward to hearing your report back after your appointment.
Before you go, write a list of your symptoms in point form- do not overwhelm with detail. There is a difference between something feeling like it's going to collapse and an incidence of something actually collapsing. While both are important, they can indicate different issues.

Do not ask your doctor if you have ALS. Ask them what they are looking for, what your next steps are, and what your options are for symptom management in the mean time.

Today I had my appointment with my neurosurgeon in neurologist both have assured me that I 100% do not have ALS I have severe. Peroneal neuropathy and I'm scheduled for surgery August 18th I just want to say thank you to all of you for helping me through this very scary time I pray for each one of you with all my heart you will be in my prayers. Thank you for your kindness and taking your precious time to help me.

Peroneal neuropathy

I posted here before because I am just so baffled at how I could of damaged my peroneal nerve to the point in which I had to have decompression surgery yesterday. My nerve conduction test showed no response to Mr peroneal nerve emg said normal on all the 4 muscles tested. My doctors are thinking because I have lost so much weight in 8 months I lost 107 pounds. I'm dwelling or maybe I'm trolling but what ever the case I'm still scared. My emg test was 8 days after my foot drop is that to early. I'm currently seeking therapy and on anxiety meds I absolutely hate myself for even nothing you kind people with my issues. I'm 44 never had any health issues besides being over weight. My big toe seems to be the worst it literally feels dead no strength at. Does this sound like anything close to als symptoms it just happen out of the blue my exact report said abnormal sudy evidence of sevre peroneal neuropathy likely at the fibular head. Surgery recommended. Again I'm sorry for posting again and pray for all affected

Please continue posting on your original thread- moved post here so people can see your posting history all in one place.

Re: Peroneal neuropathy

Please discuss this with your doctor and ask those questions there.
You have a NON ALS diagnosis of peroneal neuropathy - we can't say anything more than that except to wish you all the best with surgery and recovery.

Hi again I received my report from my nerve conduction test and it shows no response of my peroneal nerve I have since had surgery to repair a compression at my knee but my foot remains the same. I'm scheduled to start physical therapy. I'm still so worried about my foot and I know its not healthy for me to continue to visit this forum but I'm scared. Question is does als affect the peroneal nerve my exact report stated electro physiological evidence of severe peroneal neuropathy likely at the fibular neck. What is the difference between a neuropathy vs als I know I probably seem like an ass and I'm sorry. God bless u all

Peroneal neuropathy, as I think you know, is unrelated to ALS. ALS affects potentially every voluntary movement. Your foot/calf are a very small percentage of all those nerves. The EMG is saying very clearly that the problem is only in certain nerves, and by saying "neuropathy" instead of "motor neuron disease," it is saying that there is damage that potentially can get better. That is not of course true in ALS.

As for your weight loss, it sounds like a good thing if you were overweight to begin with, but it also sounds like a sign of severe anxiety based on your posts. Talk with a psychiatrist about adjusting your anxiety meds, and perhaps see a dietician if your weight or nutritional intake is declining too much according to your GP.

In summary, you do not have ALS, which is a good thing, and you should be posting somewhere else, perhaps on a sensorimotor neuropathy and/or health anxiety board. There may also be a support group in your area where you could meet others with fears like yours. And you have PT to do, that will help you feel better.

You have a full life to live, for which many here would give a good deal, and a young child who needs you at your best. Don't waste it in fear. And please don't waste the time of those here, who don't have the time left that you do.

I am closing this thread because you are going in circles here. Bookmark this thread. If you feel anxious again, reread it. All the best.

Best,
Laurie
