Good morning to all.

The symptoms started back in May 2016. First, I noticed Atrophy in my left hand with pain here and there. A few weeks later I started having muscle Atrohpy in my forearm with very bad pain. I can easily feel the bone in my left arm where it folds compared to my right arm. My arm feels heavy and has aching pain that comes and goes. The pinky finger in that had has become a little stiff but I can still move it very well. I don't feel too much weakness in that arm/hand but there is a little bit.
I also have had a stick neck witch aching the past year.

I had my appointment with the Neurologist back in August. He said my arms looked symmetrical and I had no clinical weakness. My reflexes all were good. He kept telling me over and over again that this was NOT ALS and he was 99.9% sure. He said he would've had been able to tell if that was an option from the test he did there.

while I was getting my EMG the doctor said he didn't see anything I should be worried about and that it was clean.

My EMG Results looked good except The left ulnar motor nerve showed prolonged distal onset latency ( 3.1ms )

A few months have gone by and I still have full function in all my extremities but I still feel like my Muscles are Atrophying. Several places now. My hands, arms, legs and shoulders. I feel like my neck has gotten skinnier maybe due to atrophy. I haven't lost any weight. It I've gained weight. I fear this could be ALS.

I'm a 24 year old Male.

Why didn't you think that it could be some other disease? There are lots of diseases out there.

A specialist with special equipment has ruled out ALS, so if you have more questions, you should take them to your GP medical doctor.

I see no reason to suspect ALS in you.

Muscle Atrophy, constant twitching, coincide with ALS. That was the reason why. I don't really feel any weakness. I'm not sure if Atrophy comes before weakness or not.

Thanks for your input Mike. Greatly appreciated.

Yes, but you self diagnosed atrophy. That's an important distinction. Docs can identify atrophy, it's not just that a particular muscle or body part seems 'skinnier'. Neuros can spot atrophy--truly. If you don't trust your doc, than find another, but we can't offer you much more advice or direction than that. Dr. Google is notoriously unreliable--and does not distinguish between likely causes or extremely rare causes. No clinical weakness means that ALS is HIGHLY unlikely, no matter what google says.

Yeah I understand. The doctor said they looked semetrical and he didn't see any signs of Clinical weakness. Granted that was over 6 months ago.

Can you gain weight if you have ALS or do you lose weight?

Tim, like any human a PALS can gain or lose weight. It means nothing. I think you are looking for something you don't have and don't want
